Canister Levels – ranking used by Istockphoto to distinguish contributors by their overall sales. See the table below for current (Dec 2009) ranking:
In Dec 2009, Istock announced changes to canister levels effective Feb 24 2010:
Base: 1 – 499
Bronze: 500 – 4,999
Silver: 5,000 – 19,999
Gold: 20,000 – 49,999
Diamond: 50,000 – 399,999
Black Diamond: 400,000 +
Once changes take effect, current artists will be grandfathered into their existing levels: no contributor will drop a level.
Canister levels for non-exclusive contributors have little importance (apart from self-esteem), but for exclusives they determine royalty payout percentage (can be up to 40% compared to 20% for non-exclusives)
